ACADEMIC PREPARATION
VEGETARIANISM VIDEO
HSC4574- Nutrition Education
The final project for Nutrition Education was to create an educational video based on a health topic. My health topic was Beginner Vegetarianism. In the video, I answered commonly asked questions about vegetarianism. The purpose was to inform the audience about vegetarianism as a healthy option and list the common misconceptions that are related to vegetarianism (not getting enough protein or nutrients, etc.). This project was one I enjoyed developing because it challenged me to be creative and use different technological aspects I was not currently using. I learned many new skills that will help in my future. Additionally, I was able to apply the information and skills I had learned from the class to this project.

STD AWARENESS PROGRAM
HSC4713- Planning and Evaluating Health Education
This semester long project required each student to develop, implement, and evaluate a health program proposal on an Adobe Spark website. My health program was a STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) Awareness Health Program. Its audience was college students in Gainesville, Florida. I created the program after performing a needs assessment and reading research performed by health professionals in the area. The health program was a week-long health fair to educate and inform students on Sexually Transmitted Diseases, the importance of being tested for STDs, and what they can do to prevent the transmission of an STD. This project was a collection of the information I had learned that semester, and I enjoyed being able to see how that information would be put into practice. We also got to review our peers' projects, and it was interesting to learn about various health needs in our community.

CAPSTONE PAPER
HSC3201- Community and Environmental Health
My Capstone Paper focused on educating and empowering children with asthma. I chose this topic because I have had asthma since childhood. From a young age, my parents encouraged me to learn about my disease and the medications I needed to take. I understood that many communities in the United States do not have the resources to do the same, and I wanted to create a program that would educate and empower families and children that were affected by asthma. I hoped to help individuals with asthma understand their disease and take their health into their own hands. I researched which communities were most affected by asthma and methods to help children with asthma learn about their disease and take control of their own care. I learned the importance of communicating my health ideas to others to ensure that they understood my program and those in the future program would understand the health information they were being educated on.
